Because Andrews University is so diverse, many "stereotypes" exist on campus, and a prospective student will easily find people he or she identifies with. No one stereotype encompasses every student, but overall the Andrews community is open, friendly, academically driven, and supportive.

Having gone to a Seventh-day Adventist high school, I grew up hearing that Andrews University was full of conservative Adventists. So, when I stepped onto campus for the first time, I was expecting to see overly-conservative people who dressed like people 100 years ago, were only involved in Biblical activities, and well, didn't have much fun. But that wasn't the case. Andrews University has one of the most diverse campuses in the country, which means most of us have learned to accept differences in beliefs, cultures, and lifestyles. It is conservative in the sense that while you can still find people who drink, do drugs, and party, it isn't as heavily seen as in other colleges or as heavily emphasized as the only way to have fun. There are conservative students and teachers, but there are also those who are much more liberal. Having gone there expecting to see people who resembled a group closer to the Puritans, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that isn't the case. It is a campus where anyone can easily find a group they fit in with and have fun with, whether conservative or liberal, religious or not, social or shy. So, while there is a sweeping stereotype that AU is an overly conservative campus, in reality, it is a campus filled with diversity in gender, ethnicity, beliefs, and lifestyles where everyone can find a place where they fill comfortable and at home.

Andrews University carries a record of being a very accepting school. It is one of the most diverse schools in the country. This college caters to the needs of several students from all races and ethnicities. Andrews is also a Christian University and as such students are accepted and appreciated. I have noticed that students in the school are able to make friends easily and that there are no real stereotypes. However, people do tend to hang out with peers that are in their same major. Yet, even in that case there are several interactions from people who are not in the same major; people are truly friendly on this campus.

It is very true! Andrews is one of the most diverse schools in the country we have students from all of the world. One of the best reasons to choose Andrews is the fact that you have the opportunity to meet and interact with so many different cultures.

The stereotype of students at my school is everyone is Christian and for the most part I have found this stereotype to be true, however some students are more liberal than others and this I think this is based mostly on background and how they were raised.
