After my first year at this college, I can say that it was stressful. Before I entered the campus, I was told a few things of actual importance. For instance, when it came to fees and tuition, I was told that aid would cover everything only to find it only covered 2/3 of the tuition. The faculty of any issues rarely informed me, I had to figure them out myself. Multiple times throughout the academic year I nearly couldn't make it financially for the next semester and it was ignored. I was scared and alone and the faculty members who told my parents that I was an adult under their care treated us freshmen as children when it came to wondering where our aide went and then as adults when giving our money to them. Don't come here unless you want a ton of stress.

I loved my time at Columbia College, the experience, the family oriented environment and focus on academics were amazing. Columbia College provides incoming students and freshman with the ability to fellowship with other students and teachers in order to prepare them for college life and make it less overwhelming. The college is a well known all girls Methodist school, that provides great culture and comradery amongst the students and teachers alike. The small class sizes ensures that the focus is always on the students needs and that each student is known by their teacher, and not just a seat filler or number. I would recommend Columbia College to all young and older ladies who are looking into colleges and even men (men are able to attend at night), it will be one of the best decisions made in life and for their career.

Columbia College-Columbia, SC FAQS

  1. What is the Acceptance Rate at Columbia College-Columbia, SC?

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Columbia College-Columbia, SC is 87%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

The advice that I would give myself as a high school senior if I was able to go back in time would be, prepare yourself for college life mentally and financially. I would have advised myself to seek out more scholarships and grants and to utilize student loans as a last resort. My main concern would be school first and then concentrate on work after I've obtained my career. I started at a technical college which allowed me to save money. I obtained two Associates Degrees and decided to further my education to obtain a Bachelor's. My goal after obtaining my Associate's Degree was to land a job making a lot of money. I lost focus of my goals of furthering my education to obtain a higher degree. I don't regret the way that my life has turned out. I'm happy with my life; my husband and my two daughters that I am setting an example for. I trust and believe that I am where I should be; majoring in Behavioral Science. Obtaining this degree is more meaningful now that I can ever began to imagine.

  5. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I have to say the worst thing about Columbia College is the food. It's not necessarily the food itself, but the lack of variety and the hours of operation. Due to being a small college, our cafeteria is only open certain hours. Being an athlete, it is very difficult to get a meal after practice or a game. Due the number of students enrolled, there is not a need for a wide variety of food. Our cafeteria is not equal to one at a larger university where there are many many choices.

Well, if you are a girl, this would be the best college to attend since this is an all girls school. Boys can attend here too, but only during the evening classes. There are not many courses to take here, but if you do want to go to this college, business, economics, law, and others around that field are predominate at this school. I'll have to admit to you however, that this was not my first choice in finding a college, but I am very glad that I did come to this school.
