What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I've always hated it when people said that high school is the best four years of a person's life. I never really enjoyed high school. So, what would I sayto my past self? I would walk right up to my frumpy, sad-sack self and say, "Hey, Sam. I know you're having a difficult time, you're finding it hard to really get into all this, and you don't know why. You've always really liked school and learning, and now, all of the sudden, it's not as satisfactory. I'll let you in on a little secret. You don't like school now because high school isn't about learning anymore. You may ask yourself 'Well,if school isn't about learning anymore, what is all this stress, drama, anxiety, and effort for?' It's a four year audition for college. So, as much as you dislike school now, just hold on because at the end of it you'll get to go to college which means school is, yet again, about learning. Don't worry, Sam. You're doing fine. Just keep it up and remember that college is much, much better.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I think the wrost thing about my school would have to be how small the class size is. I admit, every now and then, a smaller group of classmates per teacher ratio is kind of nice, but most times I find myself wishing for a small auditorium filled with people as eager to learn as I am. I feel much more comfortable in a room of thirty people rather than 15. It's not that I'm not comfortable taking a leading position, I've just always been apart of bigger groups in my academic experience, so far.

What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
It really bothers me how bad our Wi-Fi and cell reception are. We're an advanced learning institution and it's 2015. Everyone's phones and laptops should work, regardless of the fact that we're right on the edge of a mountain range next to a desert. We should have connectivity that matches our BEAUTIFUL views.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
Thus far, there have been no surprises. The staff and professionals at this school are very helpful, even kind. All of the instructors, with the exception of one I encountered, want their students to succeed. I appreciate their collective spirit!

What kind of person should attend this school?
I think that my school has a very diverse population. There are high school students taking advanced courses, international students, "typical" college-aged people, and also a lot of people, like myself, who woke up one day and realized they were stuck in a dead end job and should be proactive about changing their fate.
The person who attends this school should be very open-minded and non-judgmental. Everyone is here.
