I absolutely love Rutgers University-New Brunswick! As a 19-year-old, I feel like I’ve found my place here. The campus is beautiful and so full of energy, with tons of green spaces to relax or study in. Whether it is football, basketball games or friendsgiving in the dining hall the atmosphere is just so welcoming .There is just something about having to wake up for the 12 PM Rutgers football game that feels like stepping into a wave of pure excitement. The sun is already high, casting golden light over the campus as I can hear the distant hum of marching bands warming up and the crowd buzzing with anticipation. The energy is electric, like a current running through every corner of the university—students are already gathering, decked out in scarlet, their voices blending into one powerful chorus of school pride. It makes everything so worth it. Even though the buses arent amazing, I really dont mind them as it saves me a lot of walking which is especailly helpful during the winter, as well as the buses just been one of Rutgers trademarks. The social scene is amazing too—there's always something going on, whether it's club events, games or just hanging out with friends. It’s really easy to meet new people, and everyone is so diverse, which makes it feel like you’re part of something bigger. Academically, I’ve really enjoyed most of my classes. Sure, some are super challenging, but that’s part of what makes it exciting and rewarding. The professors are great, and the resources available to help you succeed are always there if you need them. Overall, Rutgers just feels like the perfect balance of work and play, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else!

It was a great learning institution that was pretty diverse, but it was a big school so it was easy to get lost both literally and metaphorically. Having four campuses was difficult, the buses were very hard to catch exactly on time with the amount of people on them.

Shana - 04/04/2024

From what I observed from my visits and from simple chatter, Rutgers NB is quickly rising in terms of academics, but the party scene is very big too! I hope to be involved in everything when I enroll to this school soon, as well. Overall, the people are very friendly and the facilities are within arms reach — you just have to look for them.

Jeffery - 03/21/2024

One of the best colleges in New Jersey, lots of opportunities both within class and outside of it. Research opportunities, extracurriculars and interest groups can all be found here. The only qualm is the bus system but the different campuses offer different experiences.

If I could go back in time I would tell myself that studies come first. Social life and Rutgers football games, have to come second to my studies. There will be plenty of time for me have fun later on in life. I would also tell myself that I will be paying about 25K a year so that I can attend, and that if I dont make the most of that money then I would be throwing it away. I would say, be active and join as many organizations as possible. Network with people because there are thousands of people that are graduating yearly from Rutgers and that I may never know when a contact I meet may be able to offer me a job further down the line.

In light of the size of Rutgers University, the bureaucracy can be frustrating. You really have to work to get answers from administration, and often get different answers to the same question. Rutgers' vice is also its virtue; the large amount of students creates a fantastic environment for those who want the classic college experience. The social activities one can attend are astounding, and can often leave students forgetting other reasons why they attended Rutgers. Potential friends can be found everywhere, from frat parties to crammed busses. The greek life on Rutgers is vast, and provides students every degree of frat life. Those who are not into greek life need not stress-the amount of activities are bound to have friends that suit your interests. Friends are your last problem at Rutgers.

  14. What are the academics like at your school?

Most of my professors do not know my name which actually doesnt bother me. I know that they recognize me from participating a lot in class and thats all that i ask for. Academics are very competitive here. I just recently was admitted into the business school, and only 400 students are admitted per year out of the 40,000+ students that go here. Now everyone that didnt get in has to change their major and figure out what they want to do. also the pressure is on me for the next to years not to slip below a 3.4 gpa or else i get the boot. The education here is for getting a job, beacuse Rutgers offers so many programs to help get jobs and train you to get jobs, mock interviews, teaches us how to write resumes, how to approach employers at career fairs.

Personally, I dont know about the specific stereotypes about Rutgers students in general but I do here about the different stereotypical behaviors encountered on each individual campus. For instance, Douglass is said to have the most feminem qualities not just because it was once an all girl school but because the girls there seem to give off a persona which exemplifies arrogants and rather stand offish behavior, whereas college ave is said to be known as the drinking campus, Bush as the more scientific campus (for obvious reasons) and Livingston as the quiet campus (a stereotype that was recently broken with the new lift on the incoming student policy).
