What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
The advice I would give myself is to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Being a Pharmacy major, I wish i talked to students who are currently in the same 6 year program I am in. I would ask them about their experiences, how they like it, and ask for more information about the program. I would definitely tell myself to visit the school and its surrounding. I would then ask myself if I could see myself being there for the next 6 years and if I would be happy. I would do this to all the schools I was applying to and then make a chart comparing the pros and cons of each university. I would then make my decision and try to make the best out of it and have no regrets.

What's unique about your campus?
The Co-operative program. This allows students to try out a number of career jobs before graduation, so they can better decide what they want to major in and/or do for a career. It allows them to find out what they like/dislike about a certain job and graduate with 1+ year of job experience in their field.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
Northeastern offers the co-op program which is something I had never seen before in a university. Up to three semester long co-ops are structured into each students scheduling and the student is truly able to explore what they will actually be doing when they graduate as well as making money and gaining up to a year and a half experience in the workforce. Co-ops offer valuble experience and are an incredible opportunity to make connections and land job offers when graduating.

What are the academics like at your school?
I am an engineer at Northeastern, and the only complaint I have to date about the university is the cost of tuition and its physics department.
Where is the logic behind attending a class when you cannot understand what the professor is saying? Personally I find it embarassing that the university hires such incoherent individuals to attempt to convey knowledge to students.
The physics department is abysmal, and is in serious need of a complete overhaul. Be prepared to have all of your homework online, that will be graded. In addition to that, NU does not offer classes that teach students proE and solidworks, two essential computer aided programs for engineers to know.

What is your overall opinion of this school?
Northeastern is very unique. It offers you a city experience while still having the security of a secluded campus. The security can seem overly oppressive at times, but it is just to ensure the well being of the students and faculty.
The university is amazing. Great people, amazing city, excellent atmosphere. The facilities such as the gym(s) and library are well maintained and very useful. The surrounding neighborhoods are not totally unsafe, but certain areas should be avoided at night.
The Coop program is truly amazing, and gives students the opportunity for valid job experience in their major. Anyone who graduates from Northeatern and participated in the Coop program is already two steps ahead of any graduate from another school with the same degree, hands down. We all have heard that experience is the best teacher, and that is what Coop is all about.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
I think the worst thing about my school is that there are so many activities that I want to try and I dont have enough for all of them. For example, my freshman year I joined the physical therapy club, the kappa delta sorority, and the cheerleading team. I wanted to join more clubs but there was not enough time in my day.

What kind of person should not attend this school?
Any student would be great at Northeastern. The school has excellent programs, professors, and faculty which make the experience extremely beneficial. However, because of the cost of tuition, I would say that any student that would need to pay for the full price of tuition in student loans should not attend. It is difficult to put a price on a quality education, however, there are other options for quality education that cost less money and in turn leave a student in substantially less debt.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Northeastern University is a top notch school that offers me the opportunity to plan for my future in an ideal way. My current classes are fantastic - the professors approachable, intelligent and connected. Going forward, I hope to partake in the Dialogues of Civilization program in Japan, study abroad, and complete both an international co-op and a U.S. co-op. The student clubs, organizations and on campus activities are limitless. The resources to plan your career are superb. It is the perfect environment for me to thrive. Also, the city life allows for so much community service involvement.

What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
I think the stereotype is that Northeastern students are very business-oriented, and its a relatively true stereotype. The co-op program makes us more aware of how our classes relate to the real world and give us a taste of what we're in for. But still, it is a mixed bag and some students are more serious than others.
