Golden West College is an affordable, average, community college. They have an open and modern campus, they have decent professors who are usually supportive, their students are usually mindful and respectful, and their classes are moderate. They especially have nice open study rooms for all, which have open spaces, nice windows, good seating, a TV, a whiteboard, and soundproof. They offer a lot of support for incoming undergraduate and low-income students. They also offer flexible online and in-person classes, and they also offer free concurrent/dual enrollment for high school students. However, there have been some instances in which a dangerous individual has entered campus since it is open to the public.

The teachers at Golden West College are great and always ready to help with any questions. They make the subjects that I am studying much more enjoyable if they were taught by average teachers. Not only the teachers, but the counselors are fantastic. You can get hold of a counselor in less than 5 minutes which has made my college experience much easier and less stressful.

I think that Golden West College is a great college for those who are questioning where they want to go or who they want to be. In a world full of uncertainty, especially regarding the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, there were so many questions to be asked about how education would be conducted. Golden West College has created an online educational space that is extremely accessible for students and teachers a like. The campus is very friendly and the counselors are always available for helping others. Tutoring is accessible and the school has been very accommodating.

I think that it's a cool school. Because it's a community college, it has a different feel than a 4-year college but that's something that I like about it. You can find high school students doing dual enrollment, kids completing their G.E. requirements, or people coming back to finish their education.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back in time and talk to myself as a high school senior, I would give myself the advice of researching majors, and the programs that are offered at the college. I would also have told myself to apply for more schlorships, as well as start making a financial plan so I could better afford college. I would make sure to let my past self create better relationships with my high school instructors, in order to have good references I could use in school and also for jobs and internships.

  3. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school is that there are so many people willing to help you achieve your goals. In high school, many of my teachers said that you are on your own in college. I specifically remember one teacher who said, "No one's going to hold your hand in college." However, the counselors at Golden West College have been more than eager to help me and other students map out their courses. The professors have also been very helpful in providing career advice, internship opportunites, and homework help.
